Default truncate chart

How do I create a chart covering 7 years showing only the first 12 months and
the last 24 months without a flat line for the months in the middle?

Default truncate chart

You need at least one blank cell between the first 12 months and the last 24
months. A formula that returns "" does not count, as Excel considers "" to
be text.
