Thumbs up Answer: how do i build a stacked bar graph with three variables?

Steps to create a stacked bar graph with three variables in Microsoft Excel:
  1. Enter your data into Excel. You will need three columns of data: one for the categories (x-axis), one for the first variable, and one for the second variable.
  2. Select your data.
  3. Insert a stacked bar graph.
  4. Format your graph.
  5. Add the third variable. To add the third variable to your graph, you will need to create a new series of data.
  6. Add the new data to the graph.
  7. Format the new series.
  8. Finalize your graph.

Here's an example of the data you might use:

Code:
| Category | Region | Quarter | Sales |
| -------- | ------ | ------- | ----- |
| Product A | North | Q1 | 100 |
| Product A | North | Q2 | 150 |
| Product A | South | Q1 | 75 |
| Product A | South | Q2 | 125 |
| Product A | West | Q1 | 50 |
| Product A | West | Q2 | 75 |
| Product B | North | Q1 | 75 |
| Product B | North | Q2 | 100 |
| Product B | South | Q1 | 50 |
| Product B | South | Q2 | 75 |
| Product B | West | Q1 | 25 |
| Product B | West | Q2 | 50 |
| Product C | North | Q1 | 50 |
| Product C | North | Q2 | 75 |
| Product C | South | Q1 | 25 |
| Product C | South | Q2 | 50 |
| Product C | West | Q1 | 10 |
| Product C | West | Q2 | 25 |
Remember to customize your graph by changing the colors of the bars, adding a title, and adjusting the axis labels.

Assume that the data set below resides in the range A1:C4. Groups A, B, and
C are the three variables. Each group has three components which consist of
the numbers under each group.

Group A Group B Group C
1 2 3
4 3 2
6 5 5

Select the range A1:C4. Click on the Chart Wizard. In step 1 of the chart
wizard, choose the stacked column chart. Hit the next button. In step two
of the chart wizard select the series in rows. Hit the next button. In step
three add titles, etc. Hit the next button. In step 4 of the wizard choose
the chart location. Finally, hit the Finish button and the chart should be
complete.

Excellent idea; however, my particular problem was better solved using a
pivot table chart. A local person helped me build it.

thanks for your input.
