Default Plot lines on an XY chart with some data column cells unpopulated

Hi, Can anyone help? I am using windows 98 and Excel 2000. I have created an
XY (Scatter) chart with lines connecting points. The X axis is date based in
column A of the data sheet and the variables I am plotting are columns B
through G. Many of the cells are empty as there is no data value for certain
days. Excel will only join up points that are in directly neighbouring cells
in the data columns, is there any way to disregard the empty cells, enabling
me to plot a smooth line from datapoint to datapoint on the chart?
