Default Excel 2007 desktop icon changes to gray arrow

I've never heard of that happening, but here's where I would start.
First, close Excel, go to the Windows Start menu, choose Run and enter
the following (with quotes) an press ENTER.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Excel.exe" /unregserver

Then repeat this with but change /unregserver to /regserver

Of course, you actual path to Excel.exe may be different. Adjust
accordingly.

Cordially,

I was doing something (I don't recall what) and suddenly all of the excel
(2007) icons changed to become gray upward pointing arrows. How can I change
them back to the standard excel icon.
