Default Excel missing from the "open with" command

Try opening Windows Explorer then ToolsFolder OptionFile Types.

Scroll down to IIF file and select and see what it "opens with".

Might be you have to hit "Change" then select Excel if on the list, or browse to
Excel.exe and double-click to change.

I tried that, again, with no success. I clicked on EXCEL.EXE after clicking
browse and it didn't work. I tried on a TXT file and an IIF file. The IIF
tried to open with QuickBooks and the TXT opened with wordpad, when I clearly
had chosen Excel.

It's just odd! It works when I do this at home.

Hello SirMatthew
When you right click and select "Open with" go to "Browse" and select Excel.
This should bring it back the next time you select "Open With"
Good Luck

I use Excel to edit various types of files, such as IIF (QuickBooks list
files). I used to be able to right-click on the file and choose Open With
and then Excel was listed. Recently, I noticed that Excel is not listed
and
so I have to browse through the programs menu, and then, even when I
choose
excel, it doesn't open. It seems trivial, I know, but I want it to work
the
way it used to work!

I ran office diagnostics and it didn't find anything. Any ideas other
than
reinstall, because I don't want to deal with that.

I should note that I have no problem opening regular excel files without
having to open excel first, so it's not that.

Thanks in advance for any help!
