But I'm afraid function wizard (fx button) will still be unavailable.

Provided the cell isn't hidden you can view the formula by simply selecting
the cell. If the formula doesn't appaear in the formula bar when you do this
then it's because it's hidden. Unprotect the worksheet and un-check the
hidden property of the cells you want to vieew and then re-protect.
