Excel will tranlate it for you then

=LÄNGE(A2)-LÄNGE(ERSETZEN(A2;"@";"";""))

unfortunately Excel doesn't like this and throws up the #WERT error message.

Can anyone help with a correction / alternative that will achieve the same
objective?
