Default Advanced Filter - how do you get it to go away

yes - it sits on the public drive on our network.

We have been happily using auto filter on a spreadsheet for months.
Recently
we noticed that the auto filter wasn't covering the bottom few rows.
After
a
bit of searching around I found advanced filter which had information
in
the
"list range" box. The auto filter was only working to the extent of the
range
in the advanced filter.
How do I get rid of this range. If I delete it it says reference is not
valid. If I type in a bigger range to cope with growth in the
spreadsheet
it
does not retain it.
The spreadsheet is used by several users on a network.
I tried copying the data to a new spreadsheet but the problem has just
followed.
Any ideas?
