Hi,
Have you heard of conditional formatting?
This won't put a word in the cell but can be used to colur code overdue
items eg overdue by upto twenty days could be orange & anything greater
than twenty could be red. (Excel always for different formatting for up
to 3 conditions.)
To use conditional formatting select the first cell with the date in it
go to [format - conditional formatting - cell value is] ...
eg, I entered "greater than" & "=today()" & then selected the [format -
patterns] & selected red.
have a play & see if it helps,
hth
