data validation vs combobox
Hi
Think about worksheet with a ...thousand rows, which must have combos in
several columns. Or that you have designed such sheet, and then decided to
add (or remove) some columns. Or that you suddenly find out, that you have
to change coded-in lists in all those combos. With validation list, you
create a list in a cell, and copy it to needed range; you can freely move
the cell with list to any location on sheet; and to change the list 's
source, you simply select the whole range with data validation list, and
edit it in one go.
Additionally, the main property of data validation list is to validate
entries. You can't enter the wrong entry into cell, when not set otherwise -
and that without implemeting sheet protection or using any VBA.

hello there excel gurus.I am largely self taught in excel and can write
straightforward macros and have a pretty good grasp of some of the
functions.I have always used form comboboxes for my pull down lists.I
notice
that you seem to prefer the data validation list, pros and cons.?I like
that
the fom combo box is always there.
