Default OLAP and number formatting

I am bringing in a text file to OLAP via Access. If I send the text file
directly to Excel the period number can be sorted as a number. However
somewhere in the Access part I am losing this and it reformats to general,
even when I specifically select number in the design. It then comes out with
period 10,11 and 12 before period 2.

Anyone got any ideas as to where the solution can be found.

Thanks
