Default totaling figures in colum

When I use the formula to total a colum of monatary numbers in a colum as an
example =sum(e3:e166) I get a total but if I insert another figure in a blank
space within those limits it doesn't add it in the total.

What am I to do so it automatically adds it to the total?

I really appreciated the answer you gave me to my previous question.

Thanks again

Hi Bedros,

Try:

Tools | Options | Calculation | select Automatic

Norman

Perhaps you need to turn on Automatic Calculation under
Tools--Options--Calculation. Or perhaps your blank cells are being seen as
text. To find out, see "Data Isn't Recognized..."

Thanks a million Anne Troy, that was the answer and I'm very grateful. I was
going crazy. I'm new at this and old .

Sincerely, Bedros
