Our company installed a new server and ever since I can't open an excel file
by double clicking from it's location, it opens Excel and gives the error message that it can't find the specified file. I have to open Excel first and then choose the open command and select the file from there. I am the only person in the office with this particular problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! |

I found the answer! JKP Application Development Services had a page with the
solution. I reregistered Excel with Windows and then unchecked the box "Ignore other applications" on the general tab of options. It was a great website! http://www.jkp-ads.com/Articles/StartupProblems.asp "Candi" wrote: Our company installed a new server and ever since I can't open an excel file by double clicking from it's location, it opens Excel and gives the error message that it can't find the specified file. ![]() Candi Try the usual fix(es) for this problem. ToolsOptionsGeneral uncheck "Ignore other Applications" Exit Excel and try again If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel Close Excel first and On the Windows Taskbar 1) StartRun "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)OK. 2) StartRun "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK. See the space between exe and /regserver You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe. In that case StartRun "C:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK.
