Can't open Excel files
Our company installed a new server and ever since I can't open an excel file
by double clicking from it's location, it opens Excel and gives the error message that it can't find the specified file. I have to open Excel first and then choose the open command and select the file from there. I am the only person in the office with this particular problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! |
Can't open Excel files
I found the answer! JKP Application Development Services had a page with the
solution. I reregistered Excel with Windows and then unchecked the box "Ignore other applications" on the general tab of options. It was a great website! http://www.jkp-ads.com/Articles/StartupProblems.asp "Candi" wrote: Our company installed a new server and ever since I can't open an excel file by double clicking from it's location, it opens Excel and gives the error message that it can't find the specified file. Candi Try the usual fix(es) for this problem. ToolsOptionsGeneral uncheck "Ignore other Applications" Exit Excel and try again If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel Close Excel first and On the Windows Taskbar 1) StartRun "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)OK. 2) StartRun "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK. See the space between exe and /regserver You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe. In that case StartRun "C:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK.
