I have a range of cells that cannot be formatted and they are not protected.
What else can be wrong with them? How do I find out (I tried Ctrl `, but there was nothing in these cells)if there are hidden formulas or protection? |

Kimberly,
Has conditional formatting been applied to the cell? Conditional formatting overrides any corresponding normal formatting, so it if you are attempting to change the normal format of a cell for which the condition is met, you would not be able to see the change -- at least, not until the condition became unmet. To check for conditional formatting, select one of the cells whose format you want to change, then click "Format Conditional Formatting...". If there are no conditional formats, you will see "Cell Value Is" in the first box, "between" in the second box, and nothing in the last two boxes. Good luck! -- David "Kimberly" wrote in message ... Thanks David but there is no conditional formatting either, I tried that too!
Let me know if you have any other suggestions. Have a Great Night! Kimberly "David Benson" wrote: Kimberly, Has conditional formatting been applied to the cell? Perhaps the cells are text values (numbers with an apostrophe in front
of them), in which case no amount of formatting will change their appearance. You could try this - highlight a column, click Data | Text-to-Columns then <Finish. Then see if yo can change the format. Hope this helps. Pete |

What kind of formatting are you trying to apply? What kind of data is in
the cells (label, constant, formula, etc.)? -- David "Kimberly" wrote in message ... Thanks David but there is no conditional formatting either, I tried that too!
