I have a bunch of users complaining of the following problem:

They open an Excel document that is linked to other Excel documents.

They get the message:
"This workbook contains links to other data sources."

They click "Update".

They get the message:
"This workbook contains one or more links that cannot be updated."

They click on "Edit Links".

The status are all listed as OK. The data has been updated.

My users are freaking out because these are very important finacial
documents and must reflect the correct numbers.

I have seen some pages elsewhere on the internet with other people having
the same problem, but no one lists a solution.

Please help.

We use Office 2003 SP2.

I've never seen that message, but you may want to try Bill Manville's FindLink
program:

Maybe you'll find something that's causing the trouble.
