Default Cell Text not fully visible in Formula Bar

How do you get the formula bar in Excel '07 to automatically display a FULL
view of entered text when the cell is selected - like in Excel '03?

I have a *.xls spreadsheet created in Excel '03, and converted to *.xlsm in
Excel '07 (one active macro).

The cells have text entries that I highlight and copy/paste into another
program. They are relatively small entries (40 - 80 characters/cell) and may
or may not have ALT-Enter line breaks (for spacing) inserted in the text.
The cell text is valuable only for copy/paste, so the cell is set at 8.43
width, 12.75 height, wordwrap is not enabled, so the text runs over the top
of many cells to the right of the cell entry.

In Excel '03, when I clicked on the cell to select, the formula bar would
"drop down" and display the entire contents of the cell. Then I could
highlight and copy. Now in Excel '07, only the first line of text is
displayed when the cell is selected.

I can click on the up/down arrows on the right end of the formula bar to
up/down through the cell contents line-by-line, but that doesn't allow a full
copy/paste of the cell contents. I can also click on the "double-down" arrow
on the right end of the toolbar, and will open a larger pre-defined formula
bar view. The pre-defined view may be too small for the cell entry, and you
can drag edges for a larger view, but I would prefer not to constantly
re-size the display.

Is there any way to get the cell to automatically display a "right-sized"
full view of the entered text when the cell is selected - regardless of the
amount of text entered?

Thanks in advance!

Default Cell Text not fully visible in Formula Bar

Hi Gordon
The formula bar is resizable in XL2007.
One of the great new features, as you can prevent formulae from hiding your
column letters as in earlier versions.
Just hove over the bottom edge of the formula bar till you see the resizing
tool.
Make it as big as you wish.

You can also alter the width of the Name box

Default Cell Text not fully visible in Formula Bar

Can I make it so it DOES hide column letters, just like earlier verisons?
That is how I WANT it to act.

Simple answer - No.
I can't think why you would want it to "overspill" your sheet.
You can just right click formula barExpand, and right clickCollapse when
you are done.
