Default Formatting not staying on

I have some cells with Autofit ON on the first sheet of my workbook. I want
the same formatting on the other 4 sheets, but even although I have
individually applied Autofit to the cells I want, it does not see this
formatting. The idea is for all the sheets to mimick the first sheet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Autofit is a sheet only setting.

Must be set on each sheet.

Quick way to do this select first sheet then right-click on a sheet tab and
"Select all Sheets"

CTRL + a to select all cells.

FormatRowAutofit.

Right-click on a sheet tab to "ungroup" the sheets.

Many thanks for your reply. I did as you suggest and applied Autofit to the
appropriate cells on the appropriate sheets and saved the template. When I
type on the first sheet, the Autofit works, but not on the other sheets. Any
further suggestions?

I should perhaps have said that the formatting is being applied to the second
of 6 sheets. I type on the 2nd one and the data is copied to sheets 3 - 6.
Thanks again.

Maybe because I left out the part about also setting "Wrap Text" at the same
time.

If the sheets are still grouped, whatever you type on the activesheet will also
be entered in the other sheets.

BTW..........if any merged cells, these will not autofit.

That is normal behaviour for "grouped sheets".

Ungroup to prevent that.

Thanks, but I did have Wrap Text on, no merged cells and ungrouped the
sheets. I even tried using a macro to apply the Autofit to the appropriate
cells after the text is typed, but that did not work either. Funnily enough,
if I manually select the cells after entering the text and apply Autofit, it
does work! I really didn't want the users to have to manually apply Autofit,
so am looking for another way round this.

Sorry to be a pain, but this is very frustrating.

I have since found that this is a bug in Excel 2003. Thanks for replies.
