I have the bottom margin set to 0 but the document still prints about 3/4"
above the bottom of the sheet. I am printing on a form and need for the document to print lower on the page. How do I get this to print lower? |

Linda,
You just opened a can of worms. With printing comes a whole raft of problems. For example if you are using a Laser printer or even some ink jet printers, have a "No print Area" completley around the page. On most Lexmark printers this is a 1/4" no print zone. You can actually get inside the zone but you have to know the prnter codes. For your problem, I suggest you use the Print Preview Preview button. In Excel 2007, it is under the Excel Logo on the top left of the screen. While you have the page up on the screen, check the box that lets you see the margin, header and footer lines. Verify your margin sizes and if there is a header or footer, adjust the lines accordingly. So, to go much further, I'd need to know the type of printer, whether you are using PostScript or PCL datastreams, and possibly an image of the form. also, I would reduce the top, bot. and side margins to 0.25" to allow for the no print zone. If you some real deep help on this, change your print options to "File" and then send me the print file and I read it with a hex editor to see if I can twink the page setup commands from within the file. I am using an HP 5440 printer. It's not just one form but many that I need
to solve this problem for. Also I am trying to produce a book with word searches that I need to have go to the bottom of the page as well. When I go to print preview it looks like the footer is gone, which I was trying to accomplish and it appears the bottom margin is at the very bottom of the page. Because of security reasons I'm not allow to send you the form, but I can send you a page from my book. This really is a minor problem on my book, it's just asthetics to have the page appear to be as low to the bottom as it is near to the top. I really appreciate your response "Linda" wrote: I have the bottom margin set to 0 but the document still prints about 3/4" above the bottom of the sheet. Linda,
Actually, I've got some more basic questions for you. Do you what your printer resolution is set for? For example 300 mDPI or 600 DPI, and your actual page size in inches. From that I can caluclate in dots the X&Y position that you need. I also need to know if you are using Postscript (0X &0Y) bottom left of page or PCL 5e Top Left of page starting reference. Ar the forms soft copy forms, if so, send several blank forms to me and I can play with them to position the page numbers properly. The next trivoal thing to find out would be the passing of escape codes from Excell to the printer. In Wo4rd, thi is very simple to do, I'll have to play with Excell a little. Linda,
Are you still alive out there and do you want to continue to work this problem? Please let me know before I spend the time learing the HP's particulars. -- Don "DonF" wrote: Linda, Actually, I've got some more basic questions for you.
