Default Office Shortcuts -- Slow To Start

When I launch Excel or Word from a shortcut it takes forever to bring up the
program (60 to 90 sec). If I launch either program and then open the
document their is no delay. I have reinstalled Office, but it did not help.
I am running Office 2K on an XP (SP2) machine with 2GB of memory.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

- IC

If you are using Norton ANti Virus, disable the Office Plug-in in option
under Preferences in NAV.

Terry,

Thanks for getting back. I don't have Norton installed on the machine. In
fact, I don't believe it has ever been on the machine. I also did a system
resotre back to a time that I "thought" the problem may not have existed,
but that did not help either.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Terry...You done good!!! Actually, reregistering solved the problem per
the FAQ. I reregistered Word and took care of Excel as well.

Thanks much!

Are you talking a Shortcut to the Office program OR do you actually mean
a shortcut to an Excel spreadsheet or Word document?

Actually, it is either the shortcut or the worksheet (or document in the
case of Word). If I click directly on either, it is slow as molasses. But,
if I open Excel first (no delay there) and then go to File | Open it works
great -- no delay at all.

Hmmmm....
