how do i print numbers next to my columns?

Like the row numbers that you see on the screen?

If you can live with both the column headers along with the row numbers (very
nice for doing checking), you can use:

File|Page setup|Sheet tab|check row and column headings

You could always use a formula copied down the column:

=row()
