Just bought Office 2003. When I open Excel I get an error message stating
"This file is not in a recognizable format". When I select OK, an Access file opens in Read Only. |

When in Excel, click on Tools, then Options. Select the General tab.
Towards the bottoom is an option, On Startup, Open All Files In. Get the name of that directory. You will either have to move this file to another location, or else delete the directory name in the textbox. You have to decide! If there are files in this directory that you do want to open on starting Excel, then move the Access file to another directory, otherwise delete the name of the directory. If you need this file for Access, then definitely move it to a suitable diretory, otherwise delete is, or preferable move it. "DeltaDagger" wrote: Just bought Office 2003.
