calculation of pounds per hour

I am trying to create a formula that calculates production pounds per hour.
i have start time and stop time numbers that correctly return hours run in a
format of 00:00:00 (which is what i want). when calclating pounds per hour,
the time format in excel brings back an incorrect answer. i.e. A1=31,212
pounds produced, B1=15:10:00 (total runtime). A1/B1 brings and incorrect
answer of 49,390.4178. the answer should be in the 2 thousand range. please
help.

Divide by 24 (number of hours per day); you get 2057.934

Harald Staff

Hi

1 is a day in Excel. Therefore 01:00 is not 1 but 1/24. Try

=A1/B1/24

HTH. Best wishes Harald
