I am very new to using Ms Excel 2010 and am hoping that you dont mind me asking what is probably a very easy question regarding a formula.
I have 3 columns showing Total Amount (D) (E) VAT (F) Net Amount (H) £100.05 £14.90 £85.15 I want the H column to show the VAT rate that was used for example on the above figure it would show 17.50% I have tried =E4/F4 but this is not showing 17.50% HELP!! |

Hi Carmellajade
If I understand your query correctly the formula your are looking for is correct =E/F The possible problem is perhaps your cell format Select cell containing this formula and change the format of the cell to display the formula in percentage right click cell Select 'Format Cells' Select the tab 'Number' and select Percentage Here you can also change the decimal places This will then disclose the the result in % as required Quote:

Thats brilliant! thank you Just one other question.... How do I set the formula so that it does this percentage automatically on the cell as opposed to me typing in E4/F4, and then E5/F5 and so on? |
