Default Excel 2003 Workbook problem re carry forward totals

I am using Excel 2003 and have a workbook of 4 pages[worksheets] and i want to be able to carry the 3 individual totals from the three individual pages forward onto the first page which is my summary page.

I have been searching through the help files but can’t find a simple way of doing this. I have tried to copy the total cell on an individual cell and pasting it into the summary page but I keep getting a “ref” error.

How can this be done and will it also work in later versions of Excel?
regards

Dear witelite, Good Morning.

If you want to pickup a value on Plan2 or Plan3 or other plan and show it on Plan1
do this:

1) Select the desired cell. eg: A1 on Plan1
2) Type the signal =
3) Go to the worksheet on the cell that have the data desired and CLICK on that. eg: F6 on Plan2
4) Press ENTER

Well done.

Now you can see that on Plan1 cell A1, you have the formula below:

=Plan2!F6

You can type directly on any cell on Plan1 the same formula.
Select A1 and type =Plan2!F6 or Plan2!H2 or Plan3!G8 or Plan3!L1 or Plan4!T12

It works the same.

Dear Mazzaropi, Thank you for your assistance in helping me solve my problem. Do you know what this "technique" is called - for ezample say "autofill" or something like that as I could not find how to do this in the help files?

Dear witelite, Good Evening.

Itīs not exactly a "technique", as you said.
Itīs just the First Basic process on Excel.

Itīs called CELL REFERENCE.
It works for individuals cells or cells intervals.

DID you understood what I explained on my last message?
If you didnīt undestand, itīs not problem.

I can explain again.
Just, let me know.

Please, send your Excel file to any free site like, WWW.4SHARED.COM, and put here the link.

If possible, tell me in details what is your necessity.
Iīll help you to finish correctly your work.

Hello Mazzaropi, thank you for your reply re Cell Reference.
I had spent some hours perusing the "Help" files of excel, without finding what I was looking for.

Yes I did understand your instructions and managed to finalise my workbook. Reading the Cell Reference parts of the help files also solved some shortcuts to this "prodeedure".
Thank you for your help, it is very much appreciated.
regards
