Default Grouping data

I have the following senerio:

1. bmex
2. cmda
3. foxc
4. bmex
5. ddma
6. dtsa

where 1,2,4 are grouped and 3,5,6.... These patterns will repeat in random
order for 50 lines. I know I can vlookup these items but is there anythine
else that would group them and drop down all of the categories contained?

Default Grouping data

Since the grouping's random, how do you expect Excel to know which items
should be grouped?
