Default Numbers change into date.

I have excel 2003 and am doing a project for my school in it. The problem is
that every time I write something like 18,4 it changes into 18.apr. It only
happens in some rows in one of my Sheets so i guess it's something to do with
the settings. Because of this i cant finish my homework, but i don't want to
loose everything.

Default Numbers change into date.

Begin by typing an apostrophe (single quote):

'18,4

By doing that I cant use the number with calculations like sum ect. Is there
no settings i need to turn off for this to stop? I mean, I am sure you are
supposed to be able to write 18,2 or any other number in excel without it
turning into some kind of date.

I found out what was wrong. I right clicked on the rows, then format cells,
then numbers, and set it to general settings.
