or ctrl and ; - just the date

You could also use the formula:

=Today()

When I do this it updates the time/date in all cells (using it to track task
start and stop times). How do I limit the update to just the cell I have
selected?

Hi Bart

Typing Ctrl +; (that's Control + Semicolon) inserts the current date as a
fixed value in a cell

Control + Shift + Semicolon (i.e Ctrl+Colon Ctrl+:) inserts the current
time
