Are you copying between a cell with 1.05 and a list in the same workbook, no
html just pure
numbers in Excel? It sounds as though you are copying between 2 different
programs

I am new to excel, it is a price list that an old employee made up that I am
trying to update. I am copying from an unused cell within the price sheet.

Is the price sheet an Excel file? Make sure you save it as *.xls
The behavior you are describing is fitting with copying from Excel into a
Word file (or some other program)
