I just instand Office Standard 2007 over Office Pro 2003. Now when I open an
Excel file the Excel window opens, then it takes a very long time before the file opens. When I click on the "X" for the Excel window - not the "X" below it for the open file - the file closes, but the Excel window doesn't close until I click the "X" again. This works nothing like the Excel 2003 files. Can anyone tell me how I can get Excel to work as I think it should? Thanks. Keith |

The functionality you see with the window is 'by design'. The slow opening
workbooks is being noticed by many, particularly if the workbook is a binary (XL2003 or before) workbook operating in compatibility mode. Other things you may want to look at Any add-ins that are not necessary to load Check you virus scanner is up to date Use the 2007 file format whenever possible and the binary on (.xlsb) if speed is of the essence Upgrade any hidden workbooks to new formats (personal.xls, book.xlt, sheet.xlt, etc) -- HTH Nick Hodge Microsoft MVP - Excel Southampton, England DTHIS web: www.nickhodge.co.uk blog (non-tech): www.nickhodge.co.uk/blog/ "ohsix" wrote in message ...
