Default Sorting columns while keeping row data intact



A B C D E
1 $0.01 1200 $12.00 0.0002
2 0.03 120000 $3,600.00 0.8889
3 0.45 100 $45.00 0.0006
4 1 44000 $44,000.00 0.6001
5 4.5 900 $4,050.00 0.0552
6 0.9 350 $315.00 0.0043
7 0.3 70000 $21,000.00 0.2864
8 1.5 200 $300.00 0.0041


$73,322.00
When i sort a column the row data does not follow.I have tried grouping but
does not seem to work.What am I doing wrong?

E=d/$73,322.00

Only selected the data in column E and here is what I got.The data was fine
before.
Get same result by doing data sort.Dont I need to group the rows first
before sorting?

#DIV/0!
0.0552
#DIV/0!
#DIV/0!
0.0491

try highlighting the one column you want to sort on and then click on sort.
you should get a dialogue box asking if you want to expand the selection

or

click on a cell in the data and use the data/sort option

I have just tried it with out the same error.
I had the total in E10 and used =D1/$E$10 in cell E1 and then filled it
down. Then used the data menu and sort with out any probs.

When you click on a cell with the DIV/0! error what cells is it using for
the calculation?

Some use the cell with the $73,322.00 in it and then some use blank cells.Why
some not all??

Okay I redid it your way and it works!I had not been using the $ in the e1
formula.Why do I have to use that?Its been a long time since I took an Excel
course.
