Default unable to open excel file

I cannot open an excel file on the network, an error occur that
"filename.xls cannot be accessed.The file may be read-only,or you may be
trying to access a read-only location.Or, the server the document is stored
on may not be responding"
The excel file was not a read only and I can access other on the network.I
used excel 97 SR-2. I already try to open the file on excel 2000 SR-3.

Please help i cannot open the file.
What exactly happen to the file?

Default unable to open excel file

Try to copy the file to your C drive and see if you can open it from there.

Default unable to open excel file

I would check with your MIS dept, and see if they are having trouble with
the server and/or if they have recently renamed some directory in the path,
or changed the "permissions" on the file or directory.............if
somebody else tries to open the file from their computer are the results the
same?

Actually im on the MIS dept. and no modification or trouble on the server.I
already try to open the file in different computer still same error.
i want to know how this happen?

Default unable to open excel file

Have you tried opening the file with Excel XP, sometimes it will open ones
that earlier versions won't.........only other thing I can think to try is if
you want to send a copy of the file to my home addy, (croberts at tampabay
dot rr dot com), and I'll take a look at it this evening to see if I can see
anything........
