Default auto complete

Is there any way auto complete can be made to work when the column contains
blank cells?
In a continuous column of data it works fine, but when spaces appear it
doesnt seem to be able to read the entries past the blank cell?

Default auto complete

arbuckle,

Excel will only select entries for auto-complete from the cell's current region. If you completely
fill in an adjacent column, then the auto-complete will work.
