Default Double Criteria

I wish to check two columns of data for the purpose of counting.
1st column is either "Inpatient" or "Outpatient". The 2nd is either
"Cardio", "General".

I want to count how many "Inpatient" are "Cardio"

My formula looks like this -
SUM(IF((G55:G119="Inpatient")+(I55:I119="CARDIO"), 1,0))

The result is #VALUE

What gives?

Currently, I'm using a PivotTable that works ok but I'de rather use a
formula so I can easily format a nice looking table.

Can anyone help me?
