Default Moving left of a cell reference

Hi,

I am looking for a group of functions that are similar to the OFFSET
function. The OFFSET function seems to be the only function capable of
selecting a cell to the left of the reference. I have looked at other
functions and found that an error value is given if I try to lookup a
cell to the right of the current cell.

Does anybody know of anymore functions similar to OFFSET in the above
respect ... or is it unique?!
