Default Excel: Using DSUM, I need to evaluate 2 criteria that are not toge

The CRITERIA field in DSUM looks for adjacent columns in a table. If a column
or cell is blank, it does nothing.

How can I use A1:A2 and, say, C1:C2 as the criteria?

Not possible, the criteria range needs adjacent cells, is there any
particular problem involved by
not using it this way?
