Default Changing Decimal to Hours

An employee is purchasing vacation per pay. My spreadsheet works like
this.

Week 1 Withheld $39.00
Week 2 Withheld $39.00
Week 3 Withheld $39.00
Week 4 Withheld $39.00
Week 5 Withheld $39.00
Week 6 Withheld $39.00
Week 6 Withheld $46.14
Total Withholdings $280.14
Divided by Hourly Rate $ 22.00
Time Purchased 12.73 Hours (which would be 13 hours and 13
minutes) I am taking 60 minutes from the .73 and adding 1 hour to the 12,
making it 13 hours. The remaining .13 minutes is the difference between .73
less .60

How do I convert the 12.73 to read 13.13

Default Changing Decimal to Hours

12.73 hours does NOT equal 13 hours and 13 minutes. It equals 12 hours and
44 minutes. That being said; if you want to convert decimal hours to excel
time, then divide that number by 24. You will need to change the format to
something like this...

hope this helps.

Default Changing Decimal to Hours

Why are you interpreting the 12.73 as 12 hours and 73 minutes? 280 dollars
divided by 22 dollars per hour is 12.73 hours, where the 0.73 is 73
hundredths of an hour, NOT 73 minutes. If you want to express 12.73 hours as
hours:minutes, divide by 24 then format the result as time.
