You could put something in the BeforeClose event

Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean)

With Worksheets("Sheet1")
If .Range("A1").Value = "" Then
MsgBox "Value not supplied"
Cancel = True
End If
End With
End Sub
