Default In Cell Layout

Can I set columns within a cell similarly to how I use tabs in Word. I have
two columns of figures but I do not want to create an additional column.

This a general application in which I have found a singular exception that
is trying to make a rule. Tab key doesn't work, spacing doesn't work. Help!

Tom,

USe two columns of cells - you can merge the cells of those two columns where you only wnat a
'single' column.
