Default trouble with a growth rate

I am tring to calculate a city's Compound growth rate, but I keep
getting an error. the city has 233,149 as of 2004, and 242,820 in 2000.
My formula is =(D4/J4)^(1/(2004 -2000))-1
Thanks for any help.
