sorting error
I get the following (2 examples) sorting errors in a straight-forward sort on
a column. Cannot find any error report on this? Example 1 (doesn't handle V and W correctly?) VAP2 WAP3 WAP4 WAP7 WAPRL WAPZR VASK Example 2 V_V2 V-12 V12L_C V23 V-34 V-38 |
Your first example sorted properly for me, so I could not replicate.
Excel ignores dashes when sorting, so your second example is actually properly sorted. HTH, Bernie MS Excel MVP "abstsogds" wrote in message ... Your first example sorts correctly for me with XL2002. Did you select all of
the cells before sorting? As for the 2nd, it appears to be in correct order. If you look at Help for Default Sort Orders, you will see the rules that Excel uses. Note that hyphens are usually ignored. On Mon, 6 Dec 2004 08:05:02 -0800, abstsogds wrote: I get the following (2 examples) sorting errors in a straight-forward sort on a column.
