Default Finding Duplicates

I have a list..
505/1
505/2
505/3
I need to make sure that non of these numbers are duplicates of a master
list, I thought about something simple like:
=if(A1=z1:Z1000, "Duplicate").
This doesn't appear to work with a rang.

Can anyone help?
