Default Help!!!! Strange things are happening to a Shared Workbook!!

Can anyone shed some light on the following:

Have recently set up a shared workbook in Excel 97 and am just testing it
with a colleague at the moment.

My colleague opened it today to find the page where we had both been adding
data to was blank with a grey screen. The only thing we could see was the
column headings.

After much fiddling around I found the row height had been set to zero.
Once changed we could see the data again - but why had this happened ?????
It wasn't anything we had done.
