Why would the auto sum function or even the sum functions display the wrong

why does auto sum get wrong totals?
Your information might be stored as Text. Try one of 2 things:
Copy a blank cell Select your range you are trying to sum Do a "Paste Special"-Add - or - In your sum function embed the VALUE() function and commit with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER.
