Every one has been very helpful with my problems for which I am very
thankful. I would like to learn more about writing formulas and functions.
For some reason I can't seem to get answers from my help files. I may be
asking the wrong questions. Anyway help on this would be appreciated. Thanks
Ed

The help files are mediocre at best. Get a good book, like John
Walkenbach's "Excel 2003 Formulas", which is dedicated
specifically to formulas.

i find help rather unhelpful at times too.The best way to learn about
functions is to insert a function, then look at the help for THAT
function.Keep an eye on this forum copy examples and try them out on your own
shets....you need to have a requirement for the function though otherwise its
all pretty absract

It's good to hear that the help file is meager instead of that my many
attempts to learn more were misdirected! Thanks for your input. I'll get the
book.

I have tried your suggestion but I always find myself unable to comprehend
the use of the single and double quotes etc. Thanks for your input.
