Default My excel document is opening two versions.

When I open my spreadsheet, it opens the same document twice. Edits show up
in both documents. How can I stop that?

Did you use Windows | New Window before you saved the workbook?
If I do this and reopen the file I get JUNK.XLS.1 and JUNK.XLS.2
IF I close one of these and do a Save, next time I open that file all is
well
Hope this helps

If I close one, the other closes too. I tried saving and closing, and they
both reopen again.

Thanks for your help though!

Select the window you don't want and hit ctrl-w.

Then save the workbook.
