Force format change in excel

Hello,

Right, im having a rather annoying little issue with excel at the min. I
have some data that has been imported into Excel. Basically, the date format
is YYYY/MM/DD hh:mm:ss. Now i want this to be displayed the English version
i.e. DD/MM/YY hh:mm yet when i highlight the cells and change the format of
them, nothing happens!! I have to go into each cell individually and double
click them for the date format to change....is there any way i can force this
change without having to click on each cell???

Thanks in advanced.

Try Data Text to Columns ?

Select the entire col with the date data

Click Data Text to Columns
Click Next Next

In step3 of the wiz, under "Column data format":
Check "Date", select "YMD" from the droplist
Click Finish

Then format the col to display as desired

You're quite sure that the earlier suggested
Data Text to Columns steps didn't work ?

Maybe upload a small sample copy of your file via a free filehost* and then
post the link to it in response here (the link is
generated when you upload, just copy and paste it here)

*e.g.: http://www.flypicture.com/

Kindly note that no attachments
should be posted *directly* to the newsgroup
