We have a common spreadsheet used by many users at our office. Worksheets
created by the older version will not open correctly in the new version.
These worksheets appear to be much narrower and certain font sizes will
overrun the form. Is there a problem with the font assignments? Our
company set a Bookman font for these documents that may no longer be used in
newer versions of Windows. Our newer systems have Windows 2000 and XP. Our
older ones still run Windows 98. How do we get our newer computers to open
these worksheets which were created with older computers and software?

AFAIK Bookman was never a default font with Windows 98 and is most likely not
included with Windows 2000 ot XP.

But, I believe Times would be equivalent to Bookman so I don't think your
problem lies there.

What is the new version of Excel you are running and what version created the
files?

What resolutions are the newer Windows versions using?

Bookman goes back to our early Windows 95 days. I don't know how current
versions of Windows do font substitution. I only know our Windows 98
systems seem to open these worksheets that contain Bookman fonts without any
issues. Our Windows 2000 and XP systems have the issues. Our Windows 98
systems run Office 2000 while our newer systems are running Office 2003.
These worksheets were created on the Windows 98 systems. All of these users
have 800 X 600 resolution.
