Default How many IF are authorized?

Hello!

How many tests functions does Excel authorizes in one formula?
for instance:

=IF(...;...; IF(...;...IF(...,... IF(...;...; .... ))))

I went up to 8, then I get an error message asking me to check the
parentheses the punctuation.. even if it's correct.

Thanks for any suggestion!

You are limited to 7 levels of nested functions. Perhaps you can
use VLOOKUP or CHOOSE instead of a series of IFs.

and I also can separate the forumla in 2 cells by putting in the last ELSE
clause to look in another cell that contains more ifs

Thanks for the hint! it helps

Yes you could do that. You might need to watch the order in which you
arrange the two cells.

Why not post your requirement. I often find that contributors here
come up with quite elegant and much simpler solutions than you might
think.
