Default INSERTING AN OPTION BOX

I want like to have an option box inputted in a cell on Excel spreadsheet. I
would like to have others to be able to click this box and either a check
mark or an "x" will appear.

You can use a check box from the Forms toolbar --

Choose ViewToolbarsForms
Click on the Check box tool to select it
Click on your worksheet, where you'd like the check box to appear.
